• Isn’t hemp just marijuana?

Marijuana and hemp both come from the genus Cannabacae. Marijuana plants are typically strains or hybrids of Cannabis Indica and Cannabis Sativa. Hemp is most often a strain of cannabis sativa or a hybrid of sativa and Cannabis Ruderalis.

The distinction between hemp and cannabis comes from the makeup of a particular cannabinoid called delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol or THC.

Hemp is a cannabis plant with less than .3% THC. It shares many of the same cannabinoids that marijuana has but in different degrees of prominence. Hemp in its many strains have been grown to yield high levels of cannabinoids like CBD, CBG, and CBN, as well as other plant products such as hemp seed oil and fiber.

Marijuana strains have been grown to increase the yield and levels of THC. This is done to produce a product that causes the “high” associated with marijuana.

As regulations change, so will our polices. We are working with farmers, non-profits, lobbyists, and lawyers to keep on top of hemp regulations and laws.

  • What is CBD oil?

CBD is short for cannabidiol. CBD oil is obtained from hemp plants that have high levels of cannabidiol (CBD) and low levels of THC which supports your mind and body in several ways. CBD specifically comes from the flowers and leaves of the hemp plant. How it works – The human body has a vast network of receptors, called the endocannabinoid system (ECS), which helps us balance overall wellness and keep many of our physical processes working as they were designed. CBD attaches to these receptors, helping the body to complete its efforts at keeping us in good health.

  • What is Cannabidiol (CBD)?

Cannabidiol, or CBD for short, is a non-addictive and non-psychoactive substance naturally found in the cannabis plant. CBD is closely related to another phytocannabinoid called THC. However, THC and CBD attach to different receptors in our brains and body, therefor they do not react the same or produce the same effects. CBD will not make a person feel “high” or intoxicated. CBD can actually lessen or neutralize the psychoactive effects of THC, depending on the amount of the compound consumed.

  • What is Hemp oil?

Hemp oil is obtained by mechanically or chemically extracting essential oils from the stem, leaves and buds of the hemp plant. In the extraction process, hemp oil retains many of the terpenes, flavonoids and phytocannabinoids naturally found in the hemp plant. However, oil derived from hemp seeds -hemp seed oil- does not include the same plant compounds and is composed mainly of dietary fats.

  • What are Cannabinoids?

Cannabinoids are naturally occurring compounds found in hemp but also produced by other plants and the human body. They are the primary chemical compounds made by the cannabis plant. These compounds are vitally important in healthy immune and central nervous system functions. There are more than 80 identified cannabinoids. A network within the human body called the endocannabinoid system (ECS) contains receptors that these compounds fit into, using cannabinoids to support cells and healthy immune system functions. The most common cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant are:
    Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC)
    Cannabidiolic Acid (CBDA)
    Cannabidiol (CBD)
    Cannabinol (CBN)
    Cannabigerol (CBG)
    Cannabichromene (CBC)

  • What is the Endocannabinoid System?

The Endocannbinoid System (ECS) plays a very important role in regulating a vast range of physiological processes that affect our every day lives. How we experience stress, pain, hunger and more. It supports various biological tasks including our mood, energy and balance, memory, metabolism, immune function, sleep and even our intestinal fortitude. The discovery of the Endocannabinoid System has greatly advanced our understanding of health and disease.

So how does it work? Well, the human body has two main endocannabinoid receptors. CB1 receptors, mostly found in the central nervous system and CB2 receptors found mainly in the peripheral nervous system.  Many believe CBD works by preventing endocannabinoids from breaking down which allows them to have a more positive effect on your body. As experts develop a better understanding of the ECS, it could eventually hold the key to treating several conditions.

  • How should I decide which hemp extract to purchase?

This depends a lot on the individual and their unique needs. Keep in mind that everyone responds to CBD differently. Besides the main ingredient, tinctures, oils or other products may contain added flavors, vitamins, essential oils and different carrier oils. It’s a good idea to educate yourself on how to read a product label before you purchase a CBD product.
